Mayra created a song accompanied by alternating hand clapping and drumming on the tables. Fortuna put on her boxing gloves and not only gave the class a demonstration of jabs and uppercuts, but also allowed students to practice.

Memory, Chile and Squats

Image
Short-Term vs. Long-Term Memory Katherine, Camila and Destiny brought a variety of subjects to the class. Katherine taught us the difference between short term and long term memory. Camila brought to our attention the beauty of her native country, Chile. Destiny taught us how to do real squats in a dynamic and engaging way.  Feedback "Today it was a very short class, but we learn a lot. First we learn about the memory and she gave us some activities to do, but I couldn't complete them because we didn't have the materials needed. The class of Camila about Chile, was interesting since we learn a lot about Chile." Carmen "Today, we sat through lectures given by Catherine, Camilla, and Destiny. Each teacher gave very thought-provoking lectures with activities used to interact within the classroom. The memory presentation was informative and I thought the activity was both challenging and fun. The presentation on Chile was very enticing and used g...

Informational Interview Report PAIGE Page surprised us with a great topic, Musical Theater. She specifically focused on the audition process by giving students tips on to get ready for an audition. Fortuna and Nate volunteered to read for two of the characters Paige brought to class. The lesson was dynamic and instructive and Paige was able to convey the importance of auditioning when one wants to be part of a musical play. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Yodeling Encourages Fun Vocal Play VICTOR Victor took a big risk in presenting Yodeling as the topic for his lesson. He explained the origin of the vocal technique, demonstrated how it done, show videos of it and finally, invited the whole class to sing together. What seemed at the beginning like a very difficult task, slowly began to sound like an ensemble. Actually, the song Victor gave the students was sang several times, and every time, not only it sounded better, yodeling an...

Theater Sports and Ocean Safety

Image
Both Tina and Kyra demonstrated a great understanding of the topics they chose to teach. Tina taught Theater Sports and the class on its toes from beginning to end. She truly conveyed the idea that theater can by fun and that it can be used to teach about human behavior. Kyra, on the other hand demonstrated she is a pro when it comes to Ocean Safety. Not only did her lesson come from a place of experience, but she organized the material in a way that was understandable and even applicable to daily life. Those of us who live in South Florida could relate to her material since we deal with the ocean, life guards and ocean safety every time we set foot on a beach. Class Feedback "Sports and theater lesson was very interactive and engaging for people of all ages.  Both were very passionate about their topics.  I like the break for art in both presentations.  Slides were bright and colorful" Danielle "I really liked Tina’s class. She made it entertaining, ...
