Memory, Chile and Squats

Katherine, Camila and Destiny brought a variety of subjects to the class. Katherine taught us the difference between short term and long term memory. Camila brought to our attention the beauty of her native country, Chile. Destiny taught us how to do real squats in a dynamic and engaging way.

Feedback

"Today it was a very short class, but we learn a lot. First we learn about the memory and she gave us some activities to do, but I couldn't complete them because we didn't have the materials needed. The class of Camila about Chile, was interesting since we learn a lot about Chile." Carmen

"Today, we sat through lectures given by Catherine, Camilla, and Destiny. Each teacher gave very thought-provoking lectures with activities used to interact within the classroom. The memory presentation was informative and I thought the activity was both challenging and fun. The presentation on Chile was very enticing and used great visuals to display the beauties of the country. The squats lecture had the students very active and was helpful with health information." Masai

"Katherine's lesson was fun. She gave us 3 activities to do that were actually quite challenging and I enjoyed them. Camilla's lesson was awesome! I had no idea about all that Chile had to offer. I definitely want to go see it now. I liked how she asked others to share something about their country, too. Destiny's lesson was useful. She brought high energy to the room and made me laugh." Mackenzie

"Katherine (memory): this lesson was hilarious because at the beginning you think that it’ll be super easy to remember every single word in those activities. But then when you tried to repeat them you realize that memory it’s a crucial thing in our life. Destiny( squat): the lesson was good." Fortuna

"I liked the memory activities because it forced you to really think about the subject. Also, she was passionate about the way she taught it and made the info very interesting. The Chile lesson was also very interesting because of all the info and the pictures on the slide captured everyone's attention. The squatting lesson forced everyone to get involved and she was very strict and enthusiastic as a gym teacher would be." Tommy

"Memory: This presentation was interesting because we got to learn how to test each other by remembering pictures and reciting things in certain orders. Chile: This was an interesting presentation on the geography and culture of the Chile. I always like these types of presentation because it shows where these people come from and brings an interesting perspective to their home countries. Squats: This activity was funny. Destiny did a good job teaching how to do squats, even though I can’t do them to save my life." Victor

"The lesson on memory was very interesting! It really brought to my attention how many things we encounter each day and how much (or how little) gets stored in my memory. I also enjoyed the tips for memory! I loved the Lesson on Chile! All the parts of the country looked beautiful and really inspired me to look into potentially planning a vacation there. It was never something I had thought about but definitely is now! I also like the discussion at the end. It was a fun and interesting way to learn more about other countries. The lesson on squats was funny. It is important to know how to do a good squat! I wish there had been an alternative exercise for those of us who were unable to do the squats but I really enjoyed the mindful minute." Alexia

"I liked how Catherine tied the lesson together in the end and showed us the difference between short term and long term memory. Camila’s presentation on Chile was very fascinating, the pictures were beautiful and she had a lot of knowledge about the country. It makes me want to travel there. I really liked how Destiny started off the class with a mindful minute. It was a good change of pace and being active and healthy is very important." Ange

"Today we were fortunate enough to have three classes. Our first lesson was about “Memory”. Kathrine taught us the importance of working on your memory in order to maintain healthy brain function. She organized several games for us to play in groups which tested our memory and helped us recognize areas in which we can improve. Our second class was conducted by Camilla, she spoke about her country of origin, Chile. It was fascinating to learn of all the amazing parts of her country, especially the Easter Island Heads which were built by the Moai. Finally, we had Destiny teach us of the benefits of squatting, she taught us what muscles we work out by doing squats. We finished up our class by doing two sets of 6 squats. I found the lessons both educational and a lot of fun!" Tina

"Katrin’s topic was very interesting. Even the activity she presented was pretty good and it was unexpectedly hard! It was a good presentation overall. Camila’s presentation was good. I didnt know anything about Chile and I loved it! I’ll definitely plan my future vacation there! I really liked her PowerPoints. The pictures were beautiful and she organized the text in a pretty way. The info she provided us with were also clear and interesting. Destiny’s topic was good. I liked how she approached the beginning of class even though she kinda lost herself throughout the presentation. It’s okay! Being on stage makes everybody nervous!! The activity was also pretty good! And we all had fun together! Lucy

"Lesson 1: very interesting and cool memory game. Cool topic, had never thought about it and how interesting it could be for young children. Lesson 2: very interesting to learn about Chile. Camila was very passionate about her topic and really loved what she was teaching. Showed a lot of images which made us perfectly understand what she was teaching. Lesson 3: It was fun to do squats." Isabella

"Katherine: I really enjoyed Katherine’s activities for the memory unit. I like how she gave us three different activities that got harder as they went along to really test our memory. Camilla: I learned so much about Chile from this presentation! I really did not know much about this country and now I want to go there because it seems really great. Destiny: I thought this presentation was really interesting because it taught us about the importance of mental and physical health." Kyra

"I liked today’s class because it was entertaining. I liked learning about squats and most importantly about the mindfulness. Just that one second of meditation made me feel much better. The memory class was interesting too. And learning about Chile made me want to visit it." Myra

"I enjoyed all the presentations today. I love how they were all different ranging from memory to geography to fitness. I learned something knew from each. I enjoyed doing something physical as the other presentations have all been more informational instead of active." Amanda

"I absolutely loved learning about Chile. I thought it was very interesting. The memory lesson was great. I love how engaged she got the class with the different activities. The lesson on squats was really fun, such a unique topic to pick! It got everyone on their feet and she also was very good at grabbing our attention!" Tiff

Suggestions

About Katherine's lesson:

The activity in this was hard because some of the words were unrelated to each other and had to be recited backwards. but overall, it was good.

I think that for the lesson, next tine there should be more art implemented.

About Camila's lesson:

maybe she could have made some interactive activities like bringing food from Chile or maybe doing some cultural activities they used to do in Chile.

There was little student interaction within the lecture.

I think that for the lesson, next tine there should be more art implemented.

I think the class could have been engaged a little more with some sort of class activity.

About Destiny's lesson:

The squad class was very short, me as teaching a training lesson I would incorporate other types of exercises not only squads.

I feel that maybe she can show a video or put some music to pump up the crowd!"

The lesson was extremely short and the first part was a little confusing. I believe it was missing a little  information.

I think that for the lesson, next tine there should be more art implemented.

  3. I really enjoyed the class! Learning about memory was fascinating! It very true what she said on how so much stuff that happens daily is just erased from our memory. I really enjoyed teaching the class about Chile! I am very passionate on the topic and really loved seeing how people reacted to the pictures and our amazing nature and history. The lesson on squats was also great! I never knew squats were so important to the core of our body.
